Best wishes for Doctoral Candidate Day
13 05 2026
Dear Colleagues, PhD Candidates of the University of Warsaw!
Today, for the first time at our University, we are celebrating European PhD Student Day. It’s a perfect moment to remind ourselves – and everyone else – that the hours we spend in labs, libraries, and writing papers are a vital force driving science forward. We are the heart of research, and it’s time to say it loud!
As your President I’d like to wish us all:
- A real increase in science funding on a national scale. I wish for systemic solutions that will ensure none of us has to choose between our research passion and financial stability. Our community’s voice regarding working conditions deserves to be heard and respected.
- A sense of true appreciation. I wish us a substantive dialogue and genuine respect for our daily contribution to the development of knowledge.
I believe that together we can truly shape our academic reality. I wish us persistence and that our scientific dreams don’t get lost in everyday struggles but become a reality.
A quick word to our Doctoral Self-Government members:
Thank you for your dedication! For every hour spent helping others and for your commitment to open dialogue. I wish you endless energy for our upcoming initiatives.
Life is more than just a PhD, so join us in the celebrations:
The day starts with workshops in the Old Library (Stary BUW).
🕒 16:00 (Old BUW Hall): We kick off a series of mini-lectures. Let’s share the diversity of our research – with passion and without the usual academic stiffness!
🕒 18:00 (Och i Ach Pub): Integration evening. Time for talks, networking, and simply catching a breath in a relaxed atmosphere.
See you there, and all the best to everyone!
